Karimunjawa National Park is a cluster of 27 islands who have the type of lowland rain forest ecosystems, seagrass, algae, coastal forest, mangroves, and coral reefs.
Vegetation that characterizes the Karimunjawa National Park is Dewodaru (Crystocalyx macrophyla) contained in the lowland rainforest. Groups of algae who can be found consists of three groups: green algae, brown algae, and red algae. Coastal forest and mangrove forests are characterized by the presence of Ketapang (Terminalia cattapa), Casuarina (Casuarina equisetifolia), teak sand (Scaerota frustescens), Setigi (Strebus asper), sea hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus), and black mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata).
Types of coral reefs in Karimunjawa National Park is coastal coral reefs (fringing reef), coral reefs (barrier reef) and a few taka (patch reef). species diversity reaches 51 genera, more than 90 species of coral and 242 species of ornamental fish. Two types of protected biota that is the bahar’s root or black coral (Antiphatesspp.) And red coral (Tubipora musica).
Other marine life which is protected as a goat’s head (Cassis cornuta), triton trumpet (Charonia Tritonis), hollow nautilus (Nautilus pompillius), Batu Laga (Turbo marmoratus), and 6 types of clam
Diversity of wildlife on land in the national park is not too high compared to the aquatic wildlife. Land animals which are common among other deer (Cervus timorensis subspec), long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis karimondjawae); 40 species of birds such as green pergam (Ducula aenea), white-bellied sea eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster), trocokan / alter the Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier), parakeet (Psittacula alexandri), hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata), green turtle (Chelonia mydas), and edhor snake. White-bellied sea eagle is endangered species in the world.
Around the island of Kemujan, there are wrecks Panama INDONO which sank in 1955, which is currently a suitable habitat for reef fish and dive (wreck diving).
Of the group of islands totaling 27 pieces, five of which have been inhabited islands of Pulau Karimun, Kemujan Island, Parang Island, Mosquito Island, and the Island of Genting. Karimunjawa Island became the central districts within ± 83 km from the city of Jepara (Central famous wood carving craftsmen in Indonesia).
Karimun Jawa name comes from the time of Sunan Muria ie one of the leaders of Islamic Religious spreader. Sunan Muria see the islands in Karimunjawa very faint of Java (kremun-kremun cornerstone Jowo). The relics of Sunan Nyamplungan / Amir Hasan (son of Sunan Muria) such as catfish (Clarias meladerma) without shaft, Nyamplungan tomb, wood dewodaru, sentigi, kalimosodo, and snakes edhor, sacred by the Karimunjawa residents.

Cultural attractions outside the Park is the Durian and Lomban Festival in January / March in Jepara.
