Bukit Tigapuluh (Thirty Hills) National Park is a hilly region in the middle stretch of eastern lowlands of Sumatra, and has the potential diversity of plants / endemic animal which valuable.
Forest ecosystem types constituent Thirty Hill National Park is the lowland forest, forest and upland forest pamah the type of flora such as jelutung (Dyera costulata), red gum (Palaquium spp.), Pulai (Alstonia scholaris), kempas (Koompassia excelsa), tassel (Shorea spp.), face fungus Rimau / raflesia (Rafflesia hasseltii), jernang or dragon’s blood palm (Daemonorops draco), and various types of rattan.
Thirty Hill National Park has 59 species of mammals, 6 species of primates, 151 species of birds, 18 species of bats, and various types of butterflies.
Besides the habitat of Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), tapir (Tapirus indicus), Agile gibbon (Hylobates agilis), bears (Helarctos malayanus malayanus), blue pheasants (Lophura ignita), quail (Argusianus argus argus) and others; as well as hydro-orologis protection Watershed Indragiri Kuantan.
Originally the Park Hill neighborhood Thirty is protected forests and limited production forest. However, the condition of the park’s forests are relatively unspoiled.
Communities around the National Park consists of several tribes with the customs and culture of relatively still very traditional, Suku Anak Dalam, Talang Mamak tribe and others. The community especially Talang Mamak tribe, believe that the hills and plants in this national park has a magical power within their lives. Indirectly they participate actively in maintaining and protecting the hill / plants in national parks
Some locations / attractions to visit:
Tebelung Berasap (Fuming Tembelung). A panoramic view of the waterfall, bathing and observation of plants.
Belipat Stone and Batu Gatal (Itchy Stone). Cultural tourism. Rafting. Rafting can be done in Gangsal River, Menggatai River, and the river Sipang.
Kemantan. Cultural tourism, to see religious ceremonies of Talang Mamak tribe.
Cultural attractions outside the national park: Cultural attractions outside the Park is Siak Bermandah in June and Runway Strip in August in Riau.
The best visiting season: March / July every year.
How to reach:
Pakanbaru – Siberida, 285 km (± 4 hours) using car and then to the site via the former timber road.
