Baluran National Park is representative of specific dry forest ecosystem in Java, consists of a savanna vegetation types, mangrove forest, monsoon forest, coastal forest, lower montane forest, swamp forest and evergreen forests throughout the year. Approximately 40 percent of savanna vegetation types dominate Baluran National Park.

Existing plants in this national park as many as 444 species, of which there are native plants are unique and interesting is Widoro bukol (Ziziphus rotundifolia), neem (Azadirachta indica), and Pilang (Acacia leucophloea). Widoro bukol, neem, and Pilang are plants that is able to adapt to very dry conditions (still looks green), although other plants withered and dry up.

Other plants like tamarind (Tamarindus indica), yam (Dioscorea hispida), hazelnut (Aleurites moluccana), gebang (Corypha utan), api-api (Avicennia sp.), Kendal (Cordia obliqua), Manting (Syzygium polyanthum), and kepuh (Sterculia foetida).

There are 26 species of mammals such the banteng (Bos javanicus javanicus), wild buffalo (Bubalus bubalis), ajag (Cuon alpinus javanicus), roe (Indian muntjac muntjak), Roe (Cervus timorensis Russa), leopard (Panthera pardus), deer (Tragulus pelandoc javanicus), and fishing cats (Prionailurus viverrinus).

The bull is the mascot or characteristic of Baluran National Park.

In addition, there are about 155 species of birds of which include the already endangered such as a kite fire (Hirundo rustica), tuwuk / Asian koel (Eudynamys scolopacea), peacock (Pavo muticus), red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus), hornbill (Anthracoceros convecus), hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros), and storks barrels (Leptoptilos javanicus).


Some locations / attractions to visit:

Batangan. Looking at historical relics / sites such as caves of Japan, the tomb of the son of Maulana Malik Ibrahim, attractions peacock dance in the mating season between October / November and camping.

Facilities: information center and campground.

Bekol and Semiang. Observation of wildlife such as partridges, peacocks, deer, antelope, bison, wild buffalo, birds.

Bama, Balanan, Bilik. Marine tourism, fishing, diving / snorkeling, and fights between the stag in July / August; and a flock of gray monkey fishing crab / crab with its tail at low tide.

Manting, Air Kacip. Water source that never dry all year, leopard habitat.

Popongan, Sejile, Sirontoh, Kalitopo. Boating on a calm sea, look at the various types of fish, migratory bird observation.

Tears bulk. Rock climbing as high as 10-30 meters, with a slope of up to 85%.

Temple Bang, Labuan Peacock, Kramat. Cultural tourism.

The best visiting season: March to August every year.
